Macrame is a form of textile making using knotting rather than weaving. I thought that this would tie into my last blog entry on the nautical look for spring and summer!!! (get it.....TIE into;-) Sailors have been known to make decorative macrame items at sea such as hammocks, belts, and knife holders. They would trade or sell their masterpieces when they landed ashore.
Anyway, I never really thought about how beautiful macrame could be until I saw what Irina did on Project Runway last season. See how beautiful this looks as this model is walking away? It really makes a gorgeous statement that I have not forgotten!
It also adds a nice pop of color!
